Danny Sprinkle

This next name is culmination of many factors we’ve mentioned in previous slides. Sprinkle is a successful mid-major head coach, though he lacks any experience at the power conference level. He cut his teeth as a collegiate assistant for many years, though he’s in the first year of a new job and luring him to Stillwater would be quite the feat.

Originally from Washington, Sprinkle would play his college ball at Montana State in the late 90’s before beginning his coaching career. He was an assistant at several schools, mostly in California, before his alma mater brought him back as head coach in 2019. Tasked with rebuilding a program in rough shape, Sprinkle had great success, taking the Bobcats to consecutive NCAA Tournaments before leaving for Utah State last year. The Aggies have been one of the season’s major surprises, winning the MWC regular season title.

While he has just five years of experience as a head coach, Sprinkle has done quite a lot during that time, with his work this past season especially impressive. Not only has he won in the Big Sky at his alma mater, but completely rebuilt and reloaded the talent at a MWC school and will dance for a third straight year. Aside from geography, the biggest question for Sprinkle is whether this is the gig to lure him away, as some other current openings might seem more attractive to him.
