Pac-12 Basketball: Oregon, Washington State rise and Colorado falls in latest power rankings
6. Washington State Cougars - 12-5 (3-3)
After dealing with the Utah/Colorado road trip and falling to Oregon at home, Wazzu bounced back nicely last week. They not only beat USC in Los Angeles, but they also defeated top-10 Arizona in a home upset. The final score was 73-70, led by 24 points and 13 points from Issac Jones, who has been playing at a 1st-Team All-Pac 12 level.
The Cougars are back on the road to take on Stanford and Cal on the road. After beating Arizona, Washington State has a shot at getting an at-large bid. However, setbacks this week would make that a short-lived development.
5. Colorado Buffaloes - 12-5 (3-3)
The Buffaloes had three straight road games to deal with last week; unfortunately, they lost all three. The one that was most understanding on paper (Arizona), turned out to be a 47-point defeat. The ASU and Cal defeats came down to the last minute but considering that they’re healthy now, those losses hurt.
Colorado hopes that the recent 10-point home win over USC got them back on track, part of a three-game homestand. Up next is Oregon and Oregon State, with one being a marquee Pac-12 matchup and the other simply being to avoid an awful loss on their resume.
