The current atmosphere in college basketball is very different than it was even a few seasons ago. We’re less than two weeks beyond the NCAA Tournament and the ending of the season, but there’s still plenty of news in the sport. The coaching carousel has mostly stabilized, but the Transfer Portal is still in full effect and will induce plenty of drama in the coming weeks and months.

We don’t have a clear picture on what a majority of these rosters will look like in the Fall, and that includes even the most prominent of major programs. However, we do have a clearer picture on who is bringing these students to their new campuses. We had quite a number of wild moves in this year’s edition of the coaching carousel, but things are starting to stabilize.

In the SEC, there has been no shortage of news and change. John Calipari’s decision to leave Kentucky for Arkansas sent ripples through the sports world, while Alabama is just two weeks removed from their first-ever trip to the Final Four. A handful of other SEC Basketball programs showed promise this season while a few others brought aboard new head coaches in recent weeks. Additionally, Oklahoma and Texas join the conference this upcoming season, bringing the total number of members up to 16.

With all of this movement and activity in mind, we’re going to be taking our first look at the new state of coaching in this league. Simply put, we’re ranking the current 16 coaches in the SEC based on success both recently and across their entire careers. Let’s get right into that list, running through the impressive head coaching talent assembled in the SEC.
