SEC Basketball: Ranking the top 20 incoming transfers for the 2024-25 season

18. Mikeal Brown-Jones (Ole Miss)
2023-24 Season at UNC Greensboro: 18.9 PPG | 7.5 RPG | 1.1 APG | 54.0 FG% | 43.1 3PT%
Mikeal Brown-Jones had the best season of his career last year averaging 18.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He turned in ten games of at least 20 points and scored 39 points twice. Brown-Jones was the clear leader for a UNC Greensboro team that won 21 games and finished second in the conference standings. His strong offensive output earned him first-team All-Southern Conference honors.
Brown-Jones played mostly on the post this past season but can knock down shots from behind the three-point line. Last year he hit over 43 percent from three on 2.1 attempts per game. He hit multiple threes in six different games for the Spartans.
He has good timing on the boards grabbing 7.5 per game, with a season high of 16 rebounds in a loss to Mercer. He is a decent offensive rebounder but thrives on the defensive boards. Defensively there are some concerns with how he will hold up against bigger more-physical post players in the SEC since he will be a little undersized. A hallmark of a Chris Beard led team is a strong defense, so exactly how Mikeal Brown-Jones fits in on that end of the court is to be seen. But his offensive output should translate well to the SEC, especially his free throw shooting. This past season he attempted nearly 200 free throws making 78.7 percent from the line.
Brown-Jones should do well at Ole Miss, his offensive skills should earn him minutes, but how he holds up on the defensive end will ultimately determine how much playing time he sees.
