15. JP Pegues (Auburn)

2023-24 Season at Furman: 18.4 PPG | 4.3 RPG | 4.8 APG | 42.0 FG% | 36.2 3PT%

This past season was huge for JP Pegues and his transfer stock. After being instrumental in Furman’s upset of Virginia two years ago in the NCAA Tournament, Pegues took on the lead scoring role for the Paladins and jumped up to 18.4 points per game, an improvement of 6.5 points from the prior season. As one of the best players in the conference, Pegues earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors.

Pegues was one of the most consistent scorers this past season, scoring in double-figures in 27 of 30 games he played. He scored more than 30 points twice and had a season-high 35 points in a loss to Western Carolina.

JP Pegues was a solid rebounder last season at Furman considering his slight 6’1 frame. On the season he averaged over four rebounds per game. Pegues was also a solid playmaker, when he wasn’t finding his shot he was setting up his teammates to score, averaging nearly five assists per game.

Pegues is a talented score-first point guard comfortable living on the perimeter, this past season nearly 56 percent of his shots came from behind the arc. He should fit right in with the high-scoring Bruce Pearl offense. The biggest concern will be if he can hold up defensively against bigger more athletic SEC guards. He might not see as many shots this upcoming season, but should still be a major piece of the Auburn offense.
