Seton Hall Basketball: 2024-25 season preview for the Pirates
By John Makuch
Projected starting lineup for the Seton Hall Pirates
PG- GR. Dylan Addae-Wusu
The former St. John's transfer had his ups and downs last season but proved to be a reliable veteran presence for this team. Now, in his final season of college basketball, he is the rare returning starter for the Pirates and should get the lead guard role.
Addae-Wusu is a well-rounded guard, and he finished last season with 8.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He can defend well and his experience will prove itself early, consistency is just the key.
SG- GR. Chaunce Jenkins
Chaunce Jenkins is an exciting player coming out of Old Dominion, and his scoring will be crucial to the success of this Pirate offense in the 2024-2045 season. He put up just under 16 points a night for the Monarchs and has the experience to prove it in his fifth year of college basketball.
Shaheen Holloway wanted to go out and get athletic guards who can make things happen, and Jenkins is exactly that. He should get a starting role on this unit just based on how badly the Pirates need scoring, but Jenkins may have to carry the load at the second guard spot.
F- SO. Isaiah Coleman
Isaiah Coleman coming into his sophomore season has a ton of expectations surrounding him. Last season, the length of experience at the forward position forced him into a depth role, but with guys like Dre Davis gone, Coleman will have his chance to shine this upcoming season.
He has decent length and size for the position and showed he can guard most positions, while flashes of scoring appeared as well. Coleman could be a breakout candidate for Seton Hall, but at worst he is a consistent contributor in the starting lineup.
F- SO. Scotty Middleton
As a highly-touted, four-star recruit coming out of Wichita Kansas, Scotty Middleton was a huge transfer splash for the Seton Hall Pirates. He only ended up starting one game for Ohio State, but his scoring ability is undeniable, and there is an expectation that he can shoot the three with efficiency.
At his 6'7 frame, he has guard skills but will likely find himself in this "forward" role with Seton Hall probably going with a small ball lineup this season. While the lineup may be adjusted to move Middleton around based on his performance, he will likely still end up starting for the Pirates.
C- GR. Yacine Toumi
With no Jaden Bediako or Elijah Hutchins-Everett, the five spot gets a bit tricky yet again for Seton Hall. But Holloway is doing the best he can in the portal, and Yacine Toumi has all the talent to find himself as the starting big man this season.
The graduate transfer idea worked quite well last season, so why not try it again with Toumi out of Evansville? There was a lack of experience when it came to the bigs on this team, despite there being depth in terms of bodies at this position.
Toumi was a consistent starter for the Purple Aces and a double-digit scorer, but the adjustment to the Big East will be interesting. He will probably start based on experience alone, but there are other solid players in the reserves that could see more playing time.
