1. PG, Kadary Richmond

The most prolific addition to St. Johns is former Seton Hall Pirate Kadary Richmond. Richmond was one of the more sought-out names in the transfer portal this off-season, and for the Red Storm to land him completely changes the trajectory of where this team could head next season.

Richmond is from New York, which went into his move. However, he highlighted Jalen Brunson’s impact as a similar one he hopes to have on the city. Last season, Richmond averaged 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and shot 44.1% from the field. His three-point percentage (27.0%) has room for improvement, but he has a big frame for a guard at 6-foot-6, 210 pounds.

Smith and Richmond will man the backcourt, and both will have the ball in their hands at high volume. Their dynamic together will be one of the more interesting developments throughout the season for the Red Storm who hope to get back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.
