3. Texas Southern SWAC: 11-6 (Last Week: 2) (Last Weekend's Record: 1-1) (Upcoming Game: 3/9 vs PVU)

The Tigers drop one spot in the rankings after a 1-1 weekend. Sometimes the difference between rankings is only a single game. The Texas Tigers rode a big 2nd half rally to defeat Jackson State 80-70. Zytarious Mortle hit 20 points for TSU. TSU lost a heavyweight battle to Alcorn 82-79. Jonathan Cisse light up the scoreboard for 36 points in the loss. TSU is primed and ready to defend its conference tournament title. I think they will go in as the 3 seed.

2. Alcorn State SWAC: 11-5 (Last Week: 3) (Last Weekend's Record: 1-1) (Upcoming Games: 3/7 vs MVSU 3/9 vs UAPB)

The Braves are the hottest team in the league with 7 straight wins. They have ridden that momentum up the standings. The Braves overcame a halftime deficit to get the win over Prairie View. Jeremiah Gambrell led the way with 21 points and 5 three-pointers. Against TSU both teams battled for the full length of the game. Jeremiah Kendall's 27 points helped guide Alcorn to the win. The only thing I'm interested in seeing is how long the streak will last. I think they will win the next 2 games. Giving them a 9-game winning streak and the 2 seed.

1. Grambling SWAC: 13-3 (Last Week: 1) (Last Weekend's Record: 2-0) (Upcoming Games: 3/7 @AAMU 3/9 @AlaSU)

Another week sees the G-Men maintain their seat atop the SWAC. Grambling swept their final homestand, that puts them one step closer to the number 1 seed. Saturday Grambling took out FAMU 75-68. Antwan Burnett's double double (18 points 10 rebounds) helped GSU get the win. The Tigers had no problems against BCU, never letting the Wildcats in the game. Jourdan Smith scored a game-high 17 points. The Tigers are on the cusp of wrapping up the SWAC regular season title and the number 1 seed. A win on Thursday seals the deal for the G-Men. They remain my favorite to win the SWAC tournament.

We have arrived at the final week of the season, and my favorite time is around the corner. Tournament time is almost here and that means next week's article is a full SWAC tournament preview. Writing these rankings has been such a learning experience and lots of fun. I hope you all have enjoyed this little window into the SWAC. Keep it locked in here for all the upcoming SWACtion. I'm your tour guide around the SWAC signing out and please make sure to exit the SWAC bus carefully.
