Syracuse has now landed their first transfer commit for the 2024-2025 season as of April 2nd in Eddie Lampkin Jr. from Colorado, a team coming off a second-round appearance after falling in a nail-biter to No. 2-seeded Marquette by a score of 81-77.

The Orange finished fifth in the ACC with a 20-12 record overall, completing the season with a big-time win over North Carolina at home by a score of 86-79. The backcourt duo of Judah Mintz and JJ Starling torched the Heels, combining for 48 points in that outing. On top of Syracuse shooting 63 percent as a team altogether.

Lampkin, the rising fifth-year senior, will be entering his third different school as he started his career out at TCU during his first three go-arounds as a college basketball player. However, this past season was by far his best, as he averaged a career-high 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists per game.

The big man out of Houston, Texas, helped the Buffaloes reach the second round after taking part in the First Four game against Boise State. In the following game against Florida, he plugged in 21 points as well as six rebounds and five assists in a contest that saw over 200 points through two halves, no overtime needed. Very impressive assist total coming out of the center position, to say the least.

Those 21 points were one less than his season-high of 22 against California on January 10th; unfortunately, that game resulted in a loss for Colorado.

A very explosive center around the rim who likes to take flight whenever he can. Plus, his very elegant footwork makes it hard for his defenders to stay in front. Lampkin also has a strength for offensive rebounding, scooping up 86 this previous year. On the other hand, keeping the ball in his hands is not exactly a strong suit; he accumulated 86 turnovers during the 2023–2024 campaign.

Nonetheless, a very nice pickup in the transfer portal for Coach Autry. A potential force to be reckoned with during the ACC slate later this year.
