TCU Basketball: Frogs land another talented scorer in transfer Vasean Allette
In a Big 12 that has as much firepower as ever, TCU Basketball is loading up itself, recently landing Vasean Allette.
Like many teams, TCU Basketball lost plenty of scoring production. Not only is leading scorer/rebounder Emanuel Miller (15.8 ppg and 6.1 rpg) run out of eligibility, but veteran role players, Micah Peavy and JaKobe Coles, transferred out. The team has done a solid job in the portal adding players to returning starting guard, Jameer Nelson Jr.
Frankie Collins, an Arizona State starting guard, led the team in scoring and passing. Noah Reynolds (20.0 ppg and 4.5 apg) comes from Green Bay as one of the most productive offseason pickups, while RJ Jones comes over from fellow Big 12 program Kansas State to add depth.
The Frogs were able to land one more contributor to the backcourt in Vasean Allette, a 6'3 guard from Old Dominion. He was one of the most productive freshmen in the country this past season, averaging 17.4 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 3.1 apg, and 1.8 spg in 19 games, shooting 45% from the field and 35% from three-point range.
Some of Allette's top games before he parted ways with the program include 19 points and 12 rebounds against Coastal Carolina, along with a season-high 30 points on the road at William & Mary. He also played TCU last season, scoring 25 points in a loss. The Horned Frogs will hope that he can continue having those big scoring outings, just on their side.
Vallette having three more years of eligibility makes him an intriguing transfer addition, compared to the many that has just one season. Of course, considering that players can enter the portal after each season, he very well could go elsewhere. Still, along with former UNCW forward Trazarien White, TCU continues to add quality mid-major stars that can put the ball in the basket.
