5. Creighton's mixed week

The Creighton Blue Jays have been one of those three teams that found themselves in the top 10 this season, but that is in jeopardy after a tough loss to UNLV. Creighton was on a path to a big-time rebound after a late-November loss to Colorado State, and they did that by winning three straight games.

But then, they lost a game to a UNLV team they had no business losing to, and the resume for the Blue Jays got hurt just a bit. this team got cold from the three-point line, only making 27.6 percent of their shots from that range, and their Las Vegas opponent just had them on a bad night.

So heading into the Alabama game, it appeared that this may be a much tougher task than originally anticipated, and it was time again for the Blue Jays to prove themselves. They did exactly that though, taking down Alabama in a great 85-82 contest where Creighton proved they could win tough games like this.

Now, Creighton is in a position where they have shown they can beat quality opponents, but have struggled against teams that they are clearly better than. With the way their nonconference slate shaped up, this could very well have been an undefeated team, but they faltered in some tough moments.

Things do not get easier as they open up conference play against Villanova and Marquette, so we will be able to tell early if Creighton matches up with the top teams in this conference.
