USC Basketball: 10 candidates to replace Andy Enfield as Head Coach

We could spend time focusing on some big names that won’t be interested in moving to Los Angeles for this gig. That doesn’t mean USC shouldn’t reach out to some of these power conference head coaches; several of them could certainly be lured by the type of contract and monetary deal that USC can dish out. Williams falls into that camp.
A native of Texas, Williams has bounced around quite a bit in his collegiate coaching career. He aided Billy Gillispie at Texas A&M and Tom Crean at Marquette and has been a head coach at four D1 schools. He did decent at New Orleans, led Marquette to an Elite Eight, took Virginia Tech to their first Sweet Sixteen, and has been solid in recent years at Texas A&M. His Aggies are fresh off an NCAA Tournament win and have been in great shape in the SEC since he was hired in 2019.
Williams really has bounced around, spending 5 or 6 years each at those three power conference schools. While he is a native Texan, would he be willing to depart yet again for a more prestigious deal with the Trojans? He certainly projects as a candidate for the job and could become a winner in the Big Ten, though again he’s a name without any past experience coaching or living in California. His only real experience west of Texas came at Colorado State over a decade ago.
That’s ten candidates for USC’s new opening and you can bet that plenty of other names will be brought up in the coming days. What do you think about the names we’ve mentioned? Is the next leader for the Trojans in our list or should someone else be considered to lead USC into the Big Ten?
