Jamie Dixon

When USC hired Enfield, they plucked one of the hottest mid-major names on the market. He moved from one coast to the other, with Dunk City quite literally elevating his coaching career. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Trojans look for a more established name this time around, and Dixon actually fits the mold a lot more than it appears on the surface.

Born and raised in and around Los Angeles, Dixon left southern California for college at TCU but was later a coach in California early in his career. He was an assistant under Ben Howland at several schools and succeeded him as head coach at Pittsburgh. Dixon led the Panthers to plenty of postseason success and has been entrenched at his alma mater since 2016. Dixon has turned TCU into a legitimate contender in the Big 12, with the Horned Frogs making a third-straight Tourney appearance this season.

The initial question is how interested Dixon would be in leaving his alma mater. He had a great thing going at Pittsburgh and now has TCU trending in a great direction as well. Additionally, each of his last nine trips to the Big Dance hasn’t gotten out of the opening weekend and USC won’t be satisfied with just making the Tournament down the line. Dixon has won a ton of games and built sustained success at two programs that wouldn’t be there without him, but does he want to move back to LA?
