It’s undoubtedly sad to see the Pac-12 fall apart, though at least USC was proactive, securing their place in the Big Ten. There could be brighter days in the Trojans future if life goes well in the Big Ten. That being said, one definite name to consider is someone that they lost plenty of games against during these recent glory days of the Pac-12.

Miller is from Pennsylvania and played point guard at Pittsburgh over thirty years ago before starting his own coaching journey. An assistant at multiple schools, including Wisconsin and NC State, he succeeded Thad Matta at Xavier in 2004. After great success with the Musketeers, Miller would embark on a 12-year stint at Arizona in the Pac-12. Miller has won numerous NCAA Tournament games, making four Elite Eight’s and eight Sweet Sixteen’s between those two schools. He’s been back at Xavier for the last two seasons.

Miller represents a bit of everything that USC might want in their hire. He has connections both in Big Ten country and on the West Coast. He’s been a very successful head coach at the power conference level, and recently made a Sweet Sixteen with Xavier. One issue is his involvement in recruiting violations and his lame final seasons with the Wildcats. USC would be getting an extremely talented head coach, but could history repeat itself?
