Danny Sprinkle

Many consider Sprinkle the favorite to land the job at Washington, and we’re in agreement that he’s an attractive candidate for this and several other jobs in the upcoming offseason. The Huskies will definitely be casting a wide net, and Sprinkle is one of the attractive MWC head coaches with success this season, but what exactly has he done?

Born in Washington, Sprinkle grew up in Montana, starring at Montana State in the late 90’s. He bounced around for two decades as a D1 assistant before his head coaching career began at 2019 at his alma mater. Sprinkle engineered a masterful turnaround with the Bobcats, taking that program to consecutive NCAA Tournaments before leaving for Utah State last year. In his first season in Logan, he’s taken the Aggies to the top of the MWC standings and made them one of the major surprises of the season.

Few head coaches can match the kind of success that Sprinkle has had in the last three years, and he’s done this at multiple schools in very different leagues and situations. There’s also the fact that his father played football at Washington more than half a century ago. It’s unknown if Sprinkle would be willing to spurn Utah State after just one year, but Washington would be a very attractive landing spot. There’s no guarantee he’d have a third straight massive success story, but it’d be an appealing hire from the Huskies.
