The entire college basketball season builds towards these moments and now we’ve finished the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. 68 teams heard their names called last week during Selection Sunday and endured in fierce battle in the opening rounds of this event. Now we’ve eliminated most of the field as we’ve reached the Sweet Sixteen.
Every single one of these teams has battled hard for the entire season, but it’s much more than just that. These teams weren’t built in a vacuum; these players have trained their entire lives for these moments while their coaches have done everything to put them in this position. Only these sixteen teams won a pair of games in the Big Dance’s opening weekend and they all deserve this honor and position.
However the journey has been, whether these teams were from the SEC, the Big Ten, or any other league, there’s only one team that can be the champion. There’s no shame in the efforts of any of these Sweet Sixteen teams and they’re all extremely talented to get to this position, but only one team cuts down the nets in two weeks.
We’re not explicitly figuring out which team that is today, but instead we’ll be diving deep into these remaining teams and ranking them as they stand. It would be easy to just look at their seeds and rank them that way, but we’re considering the entire body of work. Which of these teams has the most talent and propensity to go on a run these next two weeks? Who’s shown the most on the court during the first weekend of the Big Dance?
