The 2024-25 campaign has been one of history for Robert Morris. Coming into this week, the Colonials have had the most road wins, consecutive league victories and tied for the most conference wins overall with 11. They still had a constant nemesis in Cleveland State, a team they have yet to beat since joining the Horizon League.

After trailing 30-20 late in the first half, Robert Morris eventually took the lead in the second half and was able to pull out the 68-59 win to get to 11-5 in league play, which was the most wins they’ve ever had in the regular season. Plus, they finally got a victory over the Vikings after several close calls in the past.

Here are some takeaways from the victory.

Amarion Dickerson’s “revenge game”

Dickerson is a Cleveland native, and Cleveland State is one of the top D-I programs for landing JUCO transfers. But they didn’t get the nation’s top JUCO shot-blocker from a year ago, which RMU could benefit from. The junior big man finished with a game-high 21 points, six rebounds, and a couple of blocks. His free throws during the Colonials FG drought kept them in the game long enough before making the final run for the win. He came through once again in a game that probably meant a lot to Dickerson.

Creating second-chance opportunities

Overall, Robert Morris won a road game despite shooting 39% from the field and 8/26 from three-point range. Plus, Kam Woods, the team’s leading scorer, had just three points on 1/11 shooting overall. But they won every other category on the night, including a 39-33 rebounding edge over a Vikings squad that’s naturally strong on that end. The 16 offensive rebounds allowed were the worst by Cleveland State, and the extra possessions allowed RMU to overcome some poor shooting stretches.

Josh Omojafo’s two-way performance

After injuries had affected him the last three games, Omojafo looked like himself on Wednesday night, playing 33 minutes and scoring 12 points and six rebounds on 4/6 shooting. The other three guards for RMU combined for 6/30 FG, so his production was needed on offense. But credit to him on the defensive end as well, helping limit Cleveland State’s leading scorer, Tevin Smith to just eight points on 3/11 FG. With Omojfo back to being healthy and a two-way threat, RMU can continue to roll in league play.
