03. Florida Gators (18-2, 5-2)

Watch out for Florida. We all knew how great Florida was on offense, but its defense was another story. Except for the two losses, Florida has yet to allow a conference opponent to reach 70 points. This week, Florida trailed the entire game at South Carolina before winning it in the final seconds and then followed it up with a 30 thrashing of Georgia. Walter Clayton Jr (18.9 ppg) and Alijah Martin (17.9 ppg) have been nearly unstoppable in league play.

02. Alabama Crimson Tide (17-3, 6-1)

91.1 points. That’s what Alabama is averaging in SEC play. And what makes that even more impressive is that the Crimson Tide only managed to score 64 points against Ole Miss. The defense, on the other hand, has been bad. Only Kentucky is giving up more points per game than Alabama (80.9 ppg) in SEC play, but luckily, this hasn’t cost the Crimson Tide any games yet. The only reason why Alabama might not win it all this season is its defense, but there is still time to improve.

01. Auburn Tigers (18-1, 6-0)

What’s scary for the rest of the SEC is that even without Johni Broome, arguably the best player in the country, Auburn is still the best team in college basketball. The Tigers got a huge boost on Saturday against Tennessee as Broome returned to action and recorded a double-double, 16 points and 13 rebounds, in the two-point win over Tennessee.

Auburn is still undefeated in league play, and until the Tigers start dropping some games, their spot atop these power rankings is safe.
