03. Alabama Crimson Tide (12-2, 1-0)
Any hopes that this would be a competitive game were quickly abandoned. It took 12 minutes for Alabama to get a double-digit lead over Oklahoma and the rest is history. The Crimson Tide picked up one of the most lopsided victories of the day taking down the Sooners 107-79. Five Tide players scored more than 10 points with Mark Sears leading the way with 22 points and 10 assists. Alabama made nine threes, but that isn’t what was most notable about the win. The Tide scored an impressive 56 points in the paint, making 20/25 on dunks and layups.
02. Auburn Tigers (13-1, 1-0)
There was never really any concern that Auburn would lose to Missouri. Auburn has been one of the most dominant teams in college basketball and that trend continued to start SEC play taking down Mizzou 84-68. The defense held a good Missouri offense to only 68 points and limited the starts to 21 total points. Johni Broome led all scorers with 24 points and added four blocks to further pad his Player of the Year resume. Auburn continues to make its case for being the top team in the country and if it weren't for Tennessee the Tigers would be the clear No. 1 team in college basketball.
01. Tennessee Volunteers (14-0, 1-0)
The only undefeated team in college basketball is the Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee played and destroyed Arkansas 76-52 to open conference play. The Volunteers started to pull away about halfway through the first half and never looked back. The Razorbacks were the seventh team this season to be held under 60 points by Tennessee. Chaz Lanier scored 29 points on 10/20 shooting with five made threes against Arkansas, continuing to be one of the best scorers in the country.
With how well Tennessee has been playing on both ends of the court, it might be a while before we see the Volunteers struggle to pick up a win.
