We’re around one month from the annual Selection Sunday show, where we figure out who the 68 participants will be in the NCAA Tournament. For the past few years, CBS has had an early bracket reveal of who would be the top 16 overall seed if the tournament started now.

After a historic campaign collectively, the SEC was expected to do very well in the reveal. In the reveal, they landed six out of the 16 available spots, including four of the top six overall. It wasn’t a surprise that three of them (Florida, Alabama, Auburn) were selected for 1 seed, with the Duke Blue Devils of the ACC being the 4th team.

The other SEC teams to get a spot were Tennessee (2 seed), Texas A&M (2 seed), and Kentucky (3 seed). The Auburn Tigers were tabbed as the No. 1 overall seed, thanks to having 13 Quad 1 victories. It’s interesting because Alabama was the No. 2 overall seed, and they play later today, so maybe the winner of that game will get the No. 1 overall seed a month from now.

There’s plenty that will change with this bracket a month from now, but there are some great hypothetical matchups with this group. We would get a potential Duke vs St. John’s battle in the Sweet 16 of the East Region, which would be in Newark, New Jersey.

In the Midwest Region, Alabama would face No. 4 seed Kansas in Indianapolis in the Sweet 16 as well. One interesting note is that the Florida Gators wouldn’t be going South as a 1 seed, but instead to the West in San Francisco. But without many quality teams west of the Mississippi River this season, someone from the SEC will have to get shipped out west if they were to be a 1 seed, assuming Alabama and Auburn remain the top teams.

Again, with a month until the real Selection Sunday, a lot can still change. But for those who made the cut, there’s a 99% chance you’ll be dancing no matter what.
