Schedule Outlook

A challenge already waits to begin the season, as Texas heads to Las Vegas on November 4th to play Ohio State. After that Hall of Fame Series game, the Longhorns have three straight very easy home games to solidify and figure out the lineup, though more challenges await in nonconference play.

They’ll head over to Brooklyn for the Legends Classic, a mini-tournament that’ll see them face Syracuse on November 21st and either Saint Joseph’s or Texas Tech the following evening. This is an event that the Longhorns could certainly win, though a matchup with former conference rival Texas Tech would be thrilling.

There are several more weak opponents that fill out the schedule, but the Longhorns do have two more notable matchups in early December. On December 4th, they’ll head to Raleigh, playing at NC State in their first edition of the ACC-SEC Challenge. Four days later, the Longhorns have a Sunday afternoon showdown at home against defending champion UConn.

SEC play begins with a trip to Texas A&M on January 4th, reunited with their in-state rivals for the first time. The Aggies are one of the three teams that the Longhorns see both home and away; the others being Arkansas and Oklahoma, two other longtime rivals. Something notable about their early league schedule are home games against Auburn on January 7th and Tennessee four days later.

Getting those two matchups at home is fortunate for the Longhorns, who’ll also host both Alabama and Kentucky in the middle of February. There are a lot of opportunities here, with Texas avoiding road games against most of the top-tier SEC teams. Senior Night comes against rival Oklahoma to end the regular season on March 8th.
