Texas Tech Basketball: 2024-25 season preview for the Red Raiders

Schedule Outlook
With a few new faces in this lineup, Texas Tech actually has it pretty easy in the opening weeks of the season. Their first four contests are all home games in early November, and the most challenging of the bunch might be Wyoming, though things perk up a little bit after that.
This team heads to Brooklyn for the Legends Classic, facing Saint Joseph’s on November 21st and then either Texas or Syracuse the following day. That second game should be their first legitimate test this season, though overall this nonconference schedule is lacking in those resume-building opportunities.
There are a few more very winnable home games, including on December 4th as the Red Raiders host DePaul as part of the Big 12-Big East Battle. The only real roadblock in nonconference play comes on December 8th. The Red Raiders head to Fort Worth, playing Texas A&M in the Coast-to-Coast Challenge.
Texas Tech absolutely has a chance to stockpile wins before New Year’s, as even their Big 12 opener is a very winnable home date against UCF. With the members added in recent years, this league is no longer a full double round-robin, meaning they’ll only see most of these programs one time.
While the Red Raiders get two shots at tough in-state rivals Houston and TCU, they’ll only see BYU and Kansas on the road, not facing the Jayhawks until March 1st. They will get two shots at new league rival Arizona and host Baylor on February 4th in what should be an exciting matchup. After two months of rigorous play, Big 12 action ends at Arizona State, though the final home game is a few days earlier against Colorado.
