It was a huge weekend for bubble teams with a lot of them moving in the bracket, there were a lot of bubble teams who picked up huge wins to find themselves in the bracket. The bubble games are not over and there is also a team fighting for a top seed. Here are the predictions for the big games on Monday.
North Carolina at Florida State prediction and pick
You all didn’t think that the Tar Heels were done yet. A recent winning streak has kept North Carolina firmly on the bubble, they are currently out of the tournament and will need to continue to win as many games as possible for the committee to select them to the field. North Carolina has been a mess this season. There have been talks of firing head coach Hubert Davis, the leadership has been questionable for the Tar Heels this season. Nonetheless North Carolina finds themselves in a position to make the NCAA tournament if they can keep winning.
Florida State is not in the running for the NCAA tournament but when the Seminoles end their season, legendary head coach Leonard Hamilton will retire. It will be strange seeing Florida State have a new head coach on the sidelines next season. The Seminoles are going to do their best to win as many games as possible for their departing head coach.
Michigan at Nebraska prediction and pick
The Wolverines come to Lincoln fresh off a loss to Michigan State and head to Lincoln tied for first in the Big Ten with the Spartans. Michigan uses its two big men to do almost everything for them. The Wolverines have a penchant for turning the ball over and turning it over at the highest rate in the Big Ten. Michigan still comes into the game in Lincoln at 20-5 and looks every bit of a second-weekend team.
Nebraska is a desperate team and are glad to be home for 3 out of their next 4 games after spending most of February on the road. The Huskers need this game to feel good about their chances of making the NCAA tournament team. Brice Williams and Juwan Gary are likely going to be huge in this game. The Huskers can get locked in on defense and force a lot of turnovers which is going to help them stay in this game. They should be at full strength for this game.
No. 5 Houston at No. 9 Texas Tech prediction and pick
The Cougars are one of the teams to keep an eye on as the season heads on down the stretch. Houston is very much in the running for a top seed in the tournament. The Cougars have yet to lose in a true road game and are running away with the Big 12 regular season race. The defense is the same for the Cougars but what sets this version of the Cougars apart is their ability to shoot the three. Houston is one of the best shooting teams in the country and when you couple that with their ability to play defense they have an ability to blow people out quickly
Texas Tech is going to challenge the Cougars and their quest to stay undefeated on the road. The Red Raiders are one of the best teams in the Big 12 and have the players to put a lot of pressure on the Cougars' interior defense and their ability to rebound the misses. Texas Tech is hoping to move up some seed lines as the stretch run continues, and a win over Houston would be a great start.
