6. Texas A&M Aggies
Mackenzie Mgbako (10.4 ppg and 4.9 rpg in 7 games)
PJ Haggerty (23.4 ppg and 3.8 apg at Kansas State)
Tyshawn Archie (14.3 ppg and 2.9 apg at McNeese State)
Cade Phillips (3.8 ppg and 4.0 rpg at Tennessee)
Lukas Walls (7.9 ppg and 2.5 rpg at Radford)
Technically, Mgbako would’ve likely had two years of eligibility anyway after playing fewer than 10 games last season. Yet now, they won’t have to go through the waiver process, and that extra year is available no matter what. Texas A&M was successful without the former five-star prospect, but he’s still a key player for the program’s future.
The biggest player to watch is Haggerty, one of the top pure scorers in all of college basketball. He’s scored at least 20 ppg for three different teams in the last three years but is coming off a dreadful team campaign at Kansas State. Already a proven scorer who's jumped around for several teams, Haggerty could realistically come back for an extra year if things go well for both sides.
Mid-major transfers Archie and Walls are two mid-major perimeter players who’d have time to develop in this system, while Phillips is a good interior big man who may excel at a new landing spot.
