7. Auburn Tigers

Kevin Overton (14.1 ppg and 3.3 rpg)
Adam Olsen (16.7 ppg and 4.1 rpg at South Alabama)
Thomas Dowd (14.4 ppg and 10.1 rpg at Troy)
Owen Freeman (5.0 ppg and 4.0 rpg at Creighton)

For a newer coach like Steven Pearl, having any kind of roster continuity is a big deal. He was able to bring back both Overton and Tahaad Pettiford and could very well do it again, since sharpshooting Overton has a chance to be around for a third season with the program.

There’s also Freeman, a former All-Big Ten starting forward who struggled massively at Creighton last season. After dealing with preseason injuries and ultimately getting benched, he has a chance to get back into form. And if that occurs, Auburn can bring him back to be a focal point of the frontcourt in 2027-28.

Even Dowd and Olsen would be great players to keep if either Sun Belt transfer can translate to the SEC. There are a lot of options Coach Pearl gets to work with now under the new rules, and it’s a perfect time for him and his long-term coaching viability with the program.
