"We should have never redshirted him a year ago." Towson head coach Pat Skerry was candid following the Tigers' 67-56 victory over William & Mary in the second round of the 2024 CAA Tournament. Redshirt freshman guard Dylan Williamson scored 15 points off the bench to help secure the Tigers' win. A CAA All-Rookie honoree, Williamson leveled up last postseason, averaging 15.3 points in the conference tournament. The Tigers fell in the semifinals to Charleston, but Williamson established himself as a prime breakout candidate for the 2024-25 campaign.

The Good Counsel (MD) product received All-CAA Honorable Mention recognition entering this season. So far, he has certainly looked the part of an all-conference talent. Williamson opened his redshirt sophomore year with 15 points and three assists while shooting 54.5% from the field against perennial mid-major powerhouse Saint Mary's. He then scored 10 points over 19 minutes versus Penn State Wilkes-Barre (USCAA).

Williamson had his first down game of the season at South Carolina, shooting just 2-8 from the field, but bounced back with a stellar performance against James Madison. He registered 22 points and five rebounds while shooting 8-12 from the field and 4-6 from three against the Dukes.

In his most recent contest against Nicholls State, Dylan Williamson scored a season-high 26 points on 9-12 from the field and 5-7 from three, and dished out four assists. He is exceptionally shifty with the ball in his hands, adept at creating space for himself and maximizing advantages for his team. In these early games, he has combined that quick-twitch athleticism with elite efficiency, which makes for a dangerous offensive package.

On the year, he is averaging 16.2 points per game on 56.0/57.7/83.3 shooting splits, carrying over his excellent form from last year's CAA Tournament. Pat Skerry is probably still wondering why they redshirted him. If you have the chance to watch Dylan Williamson play this season, you may wonder the same thing.
