March Madness is not just a time to watch basketball all day or try and guess who is going to win in your bracket, but it is also about the wholesome moments. We have seen a lot of them over the years, like when Loyola Chicago brought Sister Jean to all of their games in their magical run in 2018.
UC San Diego star Hayden Gray just created another wholesome moment for everyone to remember in March Madness. After the Tritons fell to Michigan in a very close game where the 12-seed almost upset the 5-seed, Gray was selected as one of the athletes in the post-game press conference.
After he was done with the press conference, Gray asked if he could keep the paper nameplate that was laid out in front of him so that reporters knew who was going to be available.

That was a nameplate that was probably just going to be thrown away at the end of the night, but instead, Gray wanted to keep it to remember his time in the NCAA Tournament. This was the first time in program history that the Tritons had made it to the NCAA Tournament, so every player and coach, while sad about the loss, were happy to get the experience of being the first team there.
The Tritons had Michigan on the ropes the entire game. They forced the Wolverines to turn the ball over, a problem they have had all season long, and hit some really big shots down in the stretch. They even took the lead at one point later in the game, but in the end, it was Michigan's experience that won out.
The Tritons are certainly a team that will be remembered in the future, even with a first-round loss to a team everyone thought should have beat them handily. Gray will certainly be remembered for his wholesome moment after his press conference, simply just wanting to remember his time in the Big Dance.
