In one of the top early games of the women's college basketball season, North Carolina takes on No. 2 UConn in a top-15 matchup. What are the odds of the Tar Heels getting the upset?

The Women's College basketball season has already had some big matchups just two weeks in, and Friday has another big game. UConn (2-0) has been dominant early on, getting blowout wins over Boston University and South Florida. Despite a couple of key pieces still sidelined (Azzi Fudd, Aubrey Griffin), they're ranked No. 2 in the country, led by superstar Paige Bueckers (17.5 ppg and 4.0 apg) and freshman forward Sarah Strong.
The Huskies have been incredibly efficient, ranked first with 60% shooting from the field. The defense remains strong but the competition level raises with the No. 14, UNC Tar Heels.
North Carolina is 3-0 to start out the season, with wins over local opponents, North Carolina A&T, UNC Wilmington, and Charleston Southern. They've shown they're an ACC contender, even without last year's star guard and leading scorer, Deja Kelly. Two seniors have risen to the occasion to lead the way in guard Lexi Donarski (15.0 ppg), along with Alyssa Ustby, who is producing 10.7 ppg and a team-leading 8.7 ppg and 3.3 apg.
The Heels have done a great job avoiding turnovers and forcing opponents to turn the ball over so far, but UConn's guards won't be easy to pressure. Bueckers is an All-American candidate, and this is the first big matchup to have a signature performance. There are four other ranked opponents in the non-con schedule for the Huskies, but this game can solidify UConn as national title contenders yet again.
But it could also put UNC on the national stage as a team to also possibly watch to cut down the nets in April. They'll be the underdogs but should have the crowd in their favor. Still, it's hard to vote against Bueckers and Coach Geno.
Prediction: UConn 80, UNC 68
