UConn Basketball: 2024-25 season preview for the Huskies
By Joey Loose
Schedule Outlook
The Huskies celebrate a second-straight national title and have an easy road to a 4-0 start, facing four straight mid-majors at home to begin the season. The new pieces on this lineup will certainly need adjustment as Hurley figures out the lineup, but it’s not like all of November will be easygoing.
This team flies to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational at the end of the month, first seeing Memphis on November 25th. They’ll get either Colorado or Michigan State on the 26th and then a third matchup the day later right before Thanksgiving. The Huskies will be one of the favorites to win the event and could get the season started off on the right foot yet again.
Just four more nonconference games remain, but there are some doozies after a quick tune-up in late November. The Huskies will host Baylor on December 4th as part of the Big East-Big 12 Battle before heading to Austin to face off with Texas just a few days later. Their final big test comes just a week later, as UConn will face Gonzaga at Madison Square Garden as part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Series.
Conference play in the Big East features a full, double round robin, meaning the Huskies see all ten teams both home and away. That adventure starts at home against Xavier on December 18th, with UConn certainly posing a target on their backs.
The road tilts at Marquette and Creighton come just over a week apart in early February, while they only have to wait until January 8th to head to Villanova. We could point any specific of those 20 conference games, but Senior Night will be a winnable affair against Seton Hall on March 8th.
