VCU vs George Mason prediction

In the first matchup between the teams, A-10 Player of the Year guard Max Shulga finished with a game-high 22 points in VCU’s win over GMU. This time around, the Patriots have to do a better job of slowing him down, with A-10 Defensive Player of the Year Jared Billups set to have the main assignment.

On the other side, VCU did a good job on all-league big man Jalen Haynes, holding him to 12 points last time out. Luke Bamgboye, who has emerged as a key piece inside, played just 14 total minutes and picked up four fouls. He and Christian Fermin will get the main assignments again and the Patriots will need to get him and others going in what could be a low-scoring game.

VCU may still have a chance at getting an at-large bid, but with one game left to go, they might as well not leave anything to chance. It should be a fun battle with the local teams in DC but look for the 1-seed to find a way to get the win and the title.

Prediction: VCU 65, George Mason 58
