This is where the tournament settles in.

Thursday was fun. Let's do it again!

By the time Friday tips off, you already feel it. The upsets, the close calls, the moments that made you rethink everything you thought you knew about this bracket. But Friday brings another full slate, another 16 games, and another chance for everything to flip again.

This is the day where contenders either look the part or start to show cracks. It is where teams like the Arizona Wildcats (30-4), Purdue Boilermakers (29-5), and Florida Gators (28-6) begin their run, knowing the pressure is different when expectations are real. At the same time, underdogs like the Akron Zips (24-9), Santa Clara Broncos (22-12), and Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (31-1) walk in believing they can be the next story everyone is talking about.

Sixteen more games. Another full day. And by the end of it, the field will be cut in half.

All times below are Eastern Time.

Must-watch games that could swing everything

Akron Zips vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Akron is not new to this stage anymore. Head coach John Groce has the Zips in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year, and that kind of consistency matters in March. They are disciplined, experienced, and comfortable in close games. Texas Tech may have more talent on paper, but this is exactly the type of matchup where Akron can drag a favorite into deep water.

Santa Clara Broncos vs. Kentucky Wildcats

Santa Clara is one of the most popular Cinderella picks for a reason. Head coach Herb Sendek has built a team that can score, space the floor, and play without fear. Kentucky brings the name and the spotlight, but if this game turns into a rhythm game offensively, the Broncos have the pieces to make this uncomfortable quickly.

Miami (Ohio) RedHawks vs. Tennessee Volunteers

Miami (Ohio) already has momentum. The RedHawks took care of SMU in the First Four on Wednesday, and now they carry that confidence into a matchup with Tennessee. At 31-1, this is not a typical double-digit seed. The question is whether that momentum translates against a physical SEC opponent.

Kansas Jayhawks vs. Cal Baptist Lancers

Kansas has the experience and expectations, but Cal Baptist brings a real scoring threat. Dominique Daniels can take over a game, and in a one-game setting, that is always dangerous. If Kansas lets this hang around, it could get tight late.

Arizona Wildcats, Purdue Boilermakers and Florida Gators take center stage

Friday belongs to a new group of top seeds.

Arizona opens against LIU in what should be a controlled start, but the Wildcats are chasing something bigger after falling just short last year. Purdue and Florida follow later in the day, both expected to advance but fully aware of how quickly things can turn.

These are the games where favorites are supposed to look comfortable.

But that word does not carry much weight in March.

When push comes to shove

Friday does not slow down.

It builds.

By the time the final games tip after 10 PM Eastern, the tournament already feels different. Teams that expected to be here are gone. New names are taking over. And suddenly, the path to the Final Four looks nothing like it did just 24 hours earlier.

That is the rhythm of March Madness.

And it is only just getting started.
