To compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference, new head coach Will Wade worked the transfer portal and believes his squad is ready to roll.
The Wolf Pack finished 12-19 last season, including just five wins in league play. Kevin Keats was fired, and on March 20, 2025, the program hired Wade. He arrives from McNeese State, where his squad reached the Round of 32 before falling to Purdue.
Wade signed a six-year contract and now turns his attention to year one in Raleigh. His non-conference slate is both fun and challenging.
It All Begins for Wade and Wolf Pack
Monday, November 3 vs. North Carolina Central
The season opener features an in-state matchup. With a brand-new roster, chemistry could take time, but the Wolf Pack should be in control.
Friday, November 7 vs. UAB
The Blazers bring a dangerous team looking for a statement win on the road. Wade will demand focus from the tip to make sure they don't slip up.
Wednesday, November 12 vs. UNC Greensboro
Another in-state clash, and the last tune-up before the schedule toughens considerably.
Monday, November 17 vs. VCU
A first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Rams are always competitive and will test NC State’s physicality. This is also a meeting between Wade and one of his former employers.
Monday, November 24 vs. Seton Hall (Hawaii)
A Thanksgiving trip to Hawaii could be a bonding moment for the Wolf Pack. This is the sixth all-time meeting with the Pirates and the first since 2018.
Wolf Pack in December
Wednesday, December 3 at Auburn
Part of the ACC/SEC Challenge, this road game brings a Final Four team into focus. Auburn returns plenty of talent, making this one of the toughest challenges on the slate.
Saturday, December 6 vs. UNC Asheville
A third in-state contest and a welcome return home following the trip to Auburn.
Wednesday, December 10 vs. Liberty
A solid mid-major test during exam week and a chance to fine-tune before the marquee matchup ahead.
Saturday, December 13 vs. Kansas
Kansas arrives in Raleigh for one of the premier non-conference games of the year. The Jayhawks lead the all-time series 13-1, with NC State’s lone win coming in the first meeting back in 1958.
Wednesday, December 17 vs. Texas Southern
This game will be played at James T. Valvano Arena, a smaller venue with an intimate atmosphere just before the holiday break.
Sunday, December 21 vs. Ole Miss (Greensboro)
A pre-Christmas showdown in Greensboro against the Rebels. Ole Miss routed the Wolf Pack in 2023, so payback will be on the Wolf Pack's mind.
Final Thoughts on Wade's Pack
The non-conference schedule gives Wade a balanced introduction in Raleigh. While there are chances to ease into the season, marquee battles with Kansas and Auburn will demand sharp play. If the Wolf Pack can find rhythm quickly, they will be well-prepared for the grind of ACC basketball.
