Yaxel Lendeborg and Henri Veesaar among Monday's top men's basketball transfer portal entrants

The portal slowed down during the second weekend of the NCAA tournament, but with no Tournament games on the docket it picked back up in a big way. Monday was one of the best days of the 2025 transfer portal and it will be hard to top in terms of talent.

The Final Four, College Basketball Crown, and the NIT Championship all finish up this week. In total, there are still 26 teams playing basketball. That means for 338 teams, the offseason is upon us. Those 338 teams are recruiting and trying to build the best team possible for a run at the NCAA Tournament next year. They are all building and recruiting through the transfer portal.

There were no portal entrants on Sunday. That is not unexpected given that it is the lead-up to the Final Four, and 16 other teams are preparing for the College Basketball Crown tournament. There have also been close to 2,000 transfers so far. If you follow the portal closely, it was refreshing to see it take a night off.

The 2025 transfer portal is back in full swing on Monday, and there have been some giant additions. Some were expected because of coaching changes, and others were surprises. Here are the 10 best transfer portal additions for day 8 of the 2025 transfer portal.

No. 10 John Camden - Delaware Blue Hens

16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists

The forward had a breakout season for Delaware and was quietly one of the best scorers in the CAA. He started his career at Virginia Tech. The Hokies rarely allowed Camden the chance to see the floor; as it turns out, Camden just needed some playing time. The increased playing time led to a breakout season for the Delaware forward.

Camden turned into one of the best players in the CAA. The forward scored over 30 points 4 times and showed a big-time offensive arsenal. The offensive game includes a 41% three-point shooter on well over 200 attempts from deep. The forward is a tricky player in the portal because he has the ACC experience, but that didn’t go well. He also showed he can score and is a fantastic shooter. He may still go to a Power Five again.

No. 9 Anthony Roy - Green Bay Phoenix

25.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists

Green Bay was one of the worst teams in Division 1 this season, but many wonder if their fortunes would have been different if Roy had played most of the season. The guard only played 11 games before he was lost for the season with an injury. In those 11 games, the guard led the country in scoring and scored 30 or more five times.

One look at Roy’s numbers coupled with the record for the Phoenix, and you can deduce that the guard was a volume shooter. Yes, he was a volume shooter, but an efficient one. Roy shot 50% from the floor over the 11 games he played. That is an excellent shooting percentage for anyone, and it's even better for someone taking 17 shots a night. Roy will get many teams interested in his services because of his efficiency and elite ability to put the ball in the hole.

No. 8 Jamar Brown - Kansas City Kangaroos

17.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists

Overall, the Kangaroos' season was disappointing, as they were picked to finish near the top of the Summit League. Even with the disappointment, Brown had one of the best individual seasons of any Summit League player and built himself into one of the best scoring guards in the transfer portal. Brown leaves the Kangaroos seven points shy of 1,000, and he did it in just two seasons.

Brown, like so many other quality guards in the portal, is an elite offensive player. The guard shot over 40% from deep and made 70 threes this season. The Kansas City guard was a great free-throw shooter and shot 88% for his career. His new team will use him as a three-point shooter; that is what he is most comfortable doing, and he does it well.

No. 7 Jean Aranguren - Hofstra Pride

14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists

The Pride has always had a player put up great numbers in the CAA for the last three seasons. The previous two players went to an SEC power. Will Aranguren be the next Hofstra player to play at a suitable power conference team and make the NCAA Tournament?  It may happen, and the point guard from Venezuela is a very intriguing player.

It was the first season that Aranguren had the keys to the offense for head coach Speedy Claxton, and he delivered a breakout season. Aranguren transferred from Iona at the end of last season when his value was that of a three-point shooter who played sparingly. He ended up a starter for the Pride, and his value is now in his ability to pass and get his team into their offensive sets. He is still a good shooter and has a well-rounded offensive game, but now he can add rebounding and passing to his repertoire.

No. 6 Zvonimir Ivisic - Arkansas Razorbacks

8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, .8 assists

"Big Z", as he is nicknamed, just finished up his second year playing for Coach Calipari. Ivisic followed his coach from Kentucky to Arkansas. He saw an increase in every statistical category, but the Razorbacks had an embarrassment of riches at the position, which caused the big man to enter the transfer portal.

Ivisic does a little of everything well. He is a career 38% three-point shooter, and he took many of them at Arkansas. He is an okay rebounder but has the ability to be an elite shot blocker. He is an athletic guy who has a lot of raw talent. If he gets in the right situation, he can thrive. Something to keep an eye on with his recruitment is that his brother Tomi currently plays for Illinois, and the Fighting Illini have an open spot for him.

No 5. Jaron Pierre Jr. - Jacksonville State Gamecocks

21.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists

Pierre Jr. was the Conference USA Player of the Year, and looking at the numbers he put up, it’s no surprise. His 21.3 points per game was good for 4th overall in the country. Pierre Jr. made sure Jacksonville State was one of the best teams in Conference USA. He was the best player on the team, and his 30-point effort led the Gamecocks to a win in the opening round of the NIT over Georgia Tech.

Pierre is another prolific shooter, but most of those shots come from beyond the three-point line. The senior guard took over 270 threes this year and made them at a 38% clip. Teams will offer him for that one skill, but when you add his ability to rebound and pass without turning the ball over, that makes for one of the most coveted guards in the country and currently one of the best players in the transfer portal.

No. 4 Rodney Rice - Maryland Terrapins

13.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists

Not much was written about Rice last season when he committed to Maryland after transferring from Virginia Tech. The guard barely played for the Hokies, and no one expected Rice to come to Maryland and start and develop into one of the best guards in the Big Ten. It is a testament to how hard he worked to get better.

Rice was part of the Crab Five, the Terrapins' starting five that rarely came off the floor. Rice likely would not have transferred had Kevin Willard not left for Villanova. Rice is a three-point shooter, and that is what he is best at, but he proved this year that he is so much more than that on the offensive end. Rice can get to the rim, hit floaters, and is a great free-throw shooter. This season, we all got to see the player he can be.

No. 3 Ja’Kobi Gillespie - Maryland Terrapins

14.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists

Gillespie is another Crab Five member who entered the transfer portal after leading the Terrapins offense to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. Gillespie is another guy who likely would not have transferred had coach Willard not left for Villanova. The point guard is one of the best players in the portal because of his ability to affect a game.

Maryland knew the type of player they were getting with Gillespie. He was a Belmont star known for his ability to shoot and his effectiveness running the pick-and-roll offense. All of that was on display in the Big Ten, and he put up a career-best 40% shooting from deep and had a 3-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Will he follow his coach to Villanova?

No. 2 Henri Veesaar - Arizona Wildcats

9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists

The Estonian big man was a surprise entry to the portal, given how well he fit into the Arizona offense. The 7’0” big man didn’t score a lot, but when he got the ball, he was unguardable. He has good feet and is a good rebounder. Veesaar's ceiling is a double-double every night with a dominant performance in the paint.

You will be hard-pressed to find many seven-footers who can do the things Veesaar can do on a basketball court. He runs the floor, can bring the ball up, can step out and hit a three, and protects the rim. He improved a lot in his second season in the USA, and with another offseason, his game is going to slow down even more. Veesaar can dominate, and he is a guy who will probably wind up playing for a Blue Blood program.

No. 1 Yaxel Lendeborg - UAB Blazers

17.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists

There is a new top big man in the transfer portal, and he comes via the UAB Blazers. There is dominating a game, and then there is what Lendeborg did to a basketball game. He dominated every time he took the floor, and no one could figure out how to slow him down. Lendeborg may be the most athletic player in the country.

The big man will be best when he can play on the wing and create offense. He is a 36% free throw shooter, shot over 50% from the floor, and gets to the line a ton. If the wing is his best spot on offense, you can put him in the post on defense, as he is an elite rim protector and defender. No one in the portal currently has the offensive ability mixed with the defensive ability that Lendeborg has. Very few guys will pass the ball like he can. He can run the point if needed and do it like a guard.

So much talent entered the portal on Monday that it was hard to figure out which 10 guys were the best. Nijel Pack from Miami entered the portal but will be omitted. He needs a waiver to play next season, so he was omitted from the list. Duncan Powell and Ali Dibba are the honorable mentions on the list.
