Famed resume fibber Steve Masiello reinstated by Manhattan
By Joe Nardone
The Steve Masiello drama is finally over. Well, at least the aspect of his suspension with the Manhattan Jaspers. We will see what happens when Masiello becomes a hot commodity among possible coaching candidates again.
Masiello, who was tabbed as being the next head coach at South Florida before it was found that he hadn’t completed his degree at Kentucky like he said on his resume, has been reinstated by Manhattan after completing his degree — for real this time, he swears it.
Manhattan announced the reinstatement via a release. Steve Masiello seemed very grateful for his chance to be back with the program and given another chance.
"“I am extremely grateful to Manhattan for the opportunity to return as its men’s basketball coach,” Masiello said. “I also am happy to have completed the requirements for my degree.”"
The really swell thing about all of this, though, is the fact that Masiello won’t have to change his resume all that much. Just change the dates of the degree he earned from Kentucky. Outside of that, the rest of it was all based in reality. So there’s that.
Masiello has a 60-39 overall in his tenure at Manhattan. The highlight of his tenure being a 25-8 record last season, which featured a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
