Top 50 Recruit Esa Ahmad Commits to West Virginia
By Daniel Tran
Bob Huggins and the West Virginia Mountaineers land Esa Ahmad for their 2015 recruiting class. Ahmad joins (No. 42 on the ESPN 100) fellow 4 star recruits James Boldin and Levi Cook to form a very impressive list of recruits that will be joining the Mountaineers in fall of 2015.
Ahmad is a great piece to solidify West Virginia’s frontcourt and provides a lot of versatility for the Mountaineers to utilize. On offense, he has shown the ability to finish through contact at the rim and can spot up from the outside. If he can get a more consistent 3-point shot, he can be a match up nightmare for defenses in the Big 12.

On defense, he may have trouble with quicker small forwards and needs to improve on his lateral movement, but his athleticism will allow him to protect the rim very well. He is also an excellent rebounder that can finish defensive possessions.
According to 247 Sports Team Ranking, West Virginia moved up to 21st from 39th with the commitment from Ahmad. With the help of their strong 2015 recruiting class, the Mountaineers will have a fruitful season next fall.
