Other notable players on the list include Fred VanVleet of Wichita State, Ryan Boatright of UConn, Terry Rozier of Louisville, Briante Weber of VCU, and Delon Wright of Utah.
Previous winners of the award include a who’s who of players, with Shabazz Napier taking the award in 2014, Trey Burke preceding him in 2013.
UNC has the most award winners in three – Kendall Marshall in 2012, Ty Lawson in 2009, and Raymond Felton in 2005. UConn has two of their own, with Napier and Kemba Walker in 2011.
Paige was named to the Associated Press All-American team released on Monday, as well VanVleet. Paige helped UNC to a 24-10 record last year and a trip to the NCAA Tournament, but a disappointing exit in the second round. VanVleet was one of the members of the 35-1 Shockers squad who also were dumped out of the tournament early despite nabbing a #1 seed.
