VIDEO: Florida Gators’ Dorian Finney-Smith’s Game-Winning Dunk
By Jacob Rude
Posterizing dunks are some of the most exciting plays in college basketball, second to the clutch, game-winning shot.
Dorian Finney-Smith decided to do both on Tuesday night.
With the game tied and the Florida Gators in need of a big shot to break the deadlock with time winding down, Finney-Smith caught the ball on the perimeter, shot-faked, then drove full speed ahead to the rim.
The result was as shown: a huge poster dunk and a two-point lead. Because you know what’s better than putting a conference opponent on a poster? Doing it to win the game.
Finney-Smith is not nice.
The win moved the Florida Gators to 4-3 in conference, just one game back of second place, but 11-9 overall. After entering the season highly ranked, the Gators’ youth and inexperience has shown through, leading to several disappointing results including three straight conference losses prior to last night’s vital win over Alabama.
However, Billy Donovan’s squad has been tested by some of the best teams in the country, including UNC, Kansas, Georgetown, and two match-ups against Kentucky still on the docket. All this made last night’s win on the road over Alabama a key one if the Gators have any hope of making it to the NCAA tournament still.
