Final Four: Thoughts and Analysis with Coach Randy Sherman
This year’s Final Four Saturday was an especially entertaining day of basketball, with one game living up to enough hype for us to already completely forgive and forget about the other. While Duke ran away from Michigan State in the opener, fans in Indianapolis and around the world were treated to one of the college basketball’s greatest pieces of dramatic theater in the second matchup. After a game of runs, the Wisconsin Badgers rallied from a two-possession deficit in the final five minutes to stun the Kentucky Wildcats and end their bid for a perfect season.

One thing I’ve learned during this tournament is that when things stop making sense, the man to make sense of them is Coach Randy Sherman. Sherman is a former high school basketball coach, but now he makes his mark as one of the best scouts in the business. When Ole Miss rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to beat BYU, I called on the coach, and he had all the answers. Now, with Kentucky out of the tournament, and Duke looking like a juggernaut after ripping apart Michigan State — there was only one logical choice to help me digest everything I just saw. Coach Sherm is essentially a cross between Yoda, Bob Knight, and Walker, Texas Ranger. So, when I asked the surly old coach to dust off his clipboard, this is what I got in return…
Trust me. It’s essentially solid gold for basketball nerds.
