Rowan decided that he will be taking his talents to Raleigh, North Carolina to play for Mark Gottfried and the N.C. State Wolfpack.
This comes as a slight surprise when you consider that most recruiting experts had Louisville or St. John’s being his top destinations not to long ago.
He had some quality schools after him during the recruiting process. Among those potential suitors were West Virginia, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
All of this interest came after he decided to withdraw his commitment from the University of Pittsburgh last September.
After retracting his commitment to Pittsburgh, Louisville made a huge push for Maverick Rowan.
Rowan actually made an official visit in March according to courier-journal.com, but he held off on the commitment to Rick Pitino, and went to St. John’s for a visit.
St. John’s just so happened to be his father’s alma mater, and therefore rumors of him potentially committing to St.John’s took place.
Now that he has decided that N.C.State is going to be his school of choice, the next step is getting him enrolled.
His intentions are to reclassify so he is eligible for the 2015-16 hoop season.
He is considered the No.37 player in the nation for the Class of 2015 according to scout.com.
His size and shooting stroke are going to come in handy in the ACC.

What you have to like is his ability to finish after contact.
He is still going to have to get stronger to go up against some of the big athletic bodies he is going to be contending with in ACC play, but the fact that he does not shy away is a good sign.
Rowan is also going to have to improve his handle so he can break down players in isolation. It should help him get to the hole easier.
You have to like that he shows a mid-range shooting touch to go along with his deep ball. The mid-range is a lost art and he is going to find that he can get a lot of buckets in that area coming off of screen with that quick trigger of his.
This is a good pick up for N.C State and it will be interesting to see how Mark Gottfried uses him in his offense.
