North Carolina Basketball: Harry Giles Won’t Take Official Visit to UNC
Power Forward Harry Giles is a North Carolina native who is a prized recruit for the 2016 freshman recruiting class and has been compared to Chris Webber as far as where his game is at this stage of his maturation.
He is the No.1 recruit of the 2016 recruiting class according to 247composite, and as such has top notch schools trying to grab a commitment from him.
Giles has started taking some of his official visits over the last couple of months, however, rumor has it that he is not going to be taking his official visit to Chapel Hill to see what the North Carolina Tar Heels have to offer.
According to fayobserver.com, Giles is not going to take his official visit to the North Carolina campus which was scheduled for this upcoming Friday night when UNC has it’s “Late Night with Roy” when the Tar Heels usher in the new hoop season and lure recruits into the program.

In all honesty, North Carolina has always been seen as a long shot to procure the services of Harry Giles, but if the rumors are true, this all but eliminates North Carolina from being the winners of the Harry Giles sweepstakes.
Giles has already taken his visits to Kansas, Kentucky and Wake Forest over the last month and a half.
He is slated to visit Duke on Halloween when they face Florida Southern in an exhibition that night.
Everyone has felt all along that when all the official visits are done and the smoke clears, Duke would end up being the big winners of the Harry Giles sweepstakes, especially with Duke already grabbing his good friend Jayson Tatum, but don’t count Wake Forest out just yet.
That sentiment has a lot to do with the fact that he is a Winston-Salem product and going to Wake Forest would keep him in the comforts of home.
North Carolina Tar Heels
If it was not for the fact that Harry Giles was from Winston-Salem, Wake Forest may have been viewed as a long shot when you look at Danny Manning being up against the monsters of college recruiting in Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky.
It is probably in Giles best interest to go to Wake Forest in the end not only because he would get to stay home, but also because he would be the first big corner stone recruit for Danny Manning which would be a big boost for Wake Forest going forward.
These next few months are going to be crucial for the remaining schools who are in the running for Harry Giles commitment.
