No.2 Virginia Cavaliers
Virginia is playing at a high level so far this season. The early season loss on the road to George Washington ended up being a blessing in disguise for Tony Bennett.
He was able to use that loss as a teaching moment and his team has tightened up and responded with seven straight wins including a road win at Ohio State and a home win over then No.14 ranked West Virginia.
Malcolm Brogdon has been the player that everyone has expected him to be to this point in the season averaging 16.9 points per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 38.3% from three-point land.

Anthony Gill and London Perrantes have also been strong in their roles. Gill has played big on the frontline leading the team in rebounding at 6.4 boards per contest as well as being the “Wahoos” second leading scorer at 13.4 points per contest.
Perrantes has done a great job running the show as expected putting up 10.4 points and 5.1 assists per game.
Virginia’s defense is still the backbone of everything they do allowing opponents to only knock down 40.5% of their shots per game.
Defensively UVA is not humming at the same clip that they were last season, but they are still effective.
The Cavaliers are going to close non-conference play with tough games against No.12 Villanova and the California Golden Bears before wrapping the schedule up on December 30th against Oakland.
It is real easy to say that this team is not as good as last season’s squad and that would be right. But they are definitely disciplined and ready to make a serious run at the ACC title.
