1. Butler ends Nova’s 14-0 start at Hinkle Fieldhouse

Some things are just better when they are done at home. Beating Villanova later in the season on the road was definitely the toughest victory that the Bulldogs got in 2016-17, but this win was the best game for Bulldogs fans. Beating the defending champions who were ranked No. 11 in the country and 14-0 is a special game.

Although a lot of students were at home due to the fact that it was Winter Break, Hinkle Fieldhouse was still packed and as loud as ever for this game. The Bulldogs held Villanova to just 58 points on 37.3% shooting from the floor.

Butler didn’t shoot all that great either (45.1 FG%, 25.0 3P%), but with Chrabascz (13 points), Baldwin (10 points), and Martin (12 points) showing up with efficient nights, it was enough to knock off the top-ranked team in the nation.

This game was the epitome of Butler’s season. It showed the grit and determination that allowed them to consistently win big games while also showing the country that the team was for real.

And of course, beating one of the top teams in the country at home is a memory that Butler fans will not forget anytime soon.
