LSU Tigers make another big recruiting move with addition of Waters

New LSU basketball coach Will Wade must be feeling good at this point in the offseason. His team secured another big pick-up.

The Tigers made it official Monday when they announced the signing of Tremont Waters, one of the top remaining players available.

During his senior season, Waters averaged 25.3 points per game and 4.6 assists and 4.6 steals per game.

Waters is a four-star point guard recruit and is ranked No. 41 on Scout’s overall list. He played basketball at Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Conn. Additionally, Waters was ranked No. 32 overall in ESPN’s rankings.

Waters received offers from other schools like Duke, Kansas, Indiana, Kentucky, and even Yale. He signed initially with Georgetown, last October.

However, Waters requested his release from Georgetown earlier in the spring and had it granted by the school.

Waters is the latest four-star player to be recruited by LSU. In fact, he’s the second ESPN top 100 player to go down to the Baton Rouge. Galen Alexander, a small forward from Lafayette Christian Academy in Lafayette, La., is ranked No. 77.

In total, LSU has four four-star commits in their 2017 recruiting class. The Tigers also have a JUCO transfer in  Daryl Edwards, who came from Northwest Florida State College.

Thanks to the addition of Waters, LSU moved up to fourth in the 247 SEC Recruiting Rankings, putting them ahead of Florida.

Wade has done a solid job of putting together his recruiting class. It’s a very good starting line-up, especially with Waters potentially playing the point.

It’s too soon to tell how Wade will do with LSU. However, if he can consistently recruit and develop these players, the Tigers will be tough to beat in the SEC.
