Old Dominion Basketball: Jason Wade commits to Monarchs
By Taylor Sturm
The Old Dominion Monarchs were able to snag a commitment from three-star, Class of 2018 shooting guard Jason Wade out of Trinity Episcopal School.
Last season, the Old Dominion Monarchs finished third in the Conference USA standings with a great overall record of 19-12.
A season removed from being one of the best mid-majors in the country, they are now a slight step behind the top programs in the conference but closing faster than ever.
ODU looks to gain some momentum for the future via recruiting and did just that as they received a huge commitment from Class of 2018 shooting guard Jason Wade.
Wade is a 6-5, 180-pound guard who hails from Richmond, Virginia and plays his high school ball for Trinity Episcopal School. A two-star recruit on Verbal Commits, Wade has snuck into a three-star position on the 247 Sports composite rankings. 247 Sports composite also has him rated as the No. 9 player in the state of Virginia, so he’s probably a bit better than the recruiting rankings suggest.
Old Dominion only has one other commit from the Class of 2018, 6’7, 200-pound power forward Jarvis Vaughan. Vaughan committed on October 1 and also hails from Virginia. Expect ODU to pick up some more recruits from the state before the start of the 2018-19 season.
Next: MTSU continues to recruit well
C-USA is one of the most underrated mid-major conferences in college basketball and extremely competitive. Recruits like Wade will be key for ODU to continue to compete with the top teams in the conference, and the Monarchs look like they are headed for continued success in the future.
