Duke vs. Florida State: College basketball game preview, TV schedule
By Taylor Sturm
The Duke Blue Devils take on the recently-ranked Florida State Seminoles. Can FSU pull off what would be a massive upset over one of the best teams in college basketball?
TV Schedule: Saturday, Dec. 30, 2:00 ET, CBS
Arena: Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, North Carolina
The Florida State Seminoles bounced back from their disappointing one-point loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys with back-to-back victories over Charleston Southern and Southern Miss, winning handily against both. While the 11-point win over the Buccaneers is impressive, the 53-point win over the Eagles is even more impressive, as we really got to see what this team can do when firing on all cylinders.
Next up for the surprising Seminoles is a trip to open ACC play against the preseason No. 1 team in college basketball and current No. 4 Duke Blue Devils.
Duke absolutely dominated the Evansville Aces by a final score of 104-40 (64 points!!) and will head into this game flying high, still licking their wounds from a disappointing loss to the Boston College Eagles to open ACC play.
I really like this Florida State team (I tend to find myself liking them every season), but I do not believe they can pull off the upset over Duke after the Blue Devils were woken up in the loss to Boston College. The Blue Devils have been a bit shaky in true road games this season but looked really solid at home.
Next: Why Duke will be fine after Boston College loss
With the memory of their loss to a “weaker” Eagles’ squad still fresh on their mind, Florida State will need to maintain their composure in what could be their worst loss of the season – in terms of start-to-finish domination and not the eyes of the Selection Committee, that is.
Prediction: Duke 88, Florida State 72
