Coming in the week, there were four teams battling for conference supremacy. After the past seven days, one team has moved ahead in Big 12 basketball.

The state of Kansas is very happy right now in the basketball world, with both teams going 2-0 and rising in this week’s rankings. For the Kansas State in particular, they’ve been doing great even without their starting point guard.

But they’re not alone when it comes to injuries, as TCU and Texas Tech also are dealing with big losses, with one really taking a tumble as a result. This all plays into the Jayhawks’ hands, as “depth” has really been the only weakness with this team.

This week was also an indicator of how real a couple of top-10 nationally ranked teams really are. Oklahoma and Texas Tech both had a pair of road games versus the bottom half of the Big 12 basketball conference and needed to win them both to keep pace at the top of the standings. Unfortunately for their fans, both fell flat and have fallen down the ladder.

West Virginia had a crack at Kansas at home, but couldn’t hold their lead and blew a great opportunity to be at the top of the standings.

But some teams did take advantage of playing quality teams, as Texas, Oklahoma State, and Iowa State used the home court to their advantage to get resume-defining wins. Baylor got a win themselves, as they look to regain the lost momentum from the beginning of league play.

There were a ton of changes in this week’s rankings, so find out who rose, and who fell.
