The Kansa Jayhawks continue to shine in the Big 12 basketball conference. Will the momentum continue against Oklahoma State?

TV schedule: Saturday, February 3, 12:00 p.m. ET. CBS

Arena: Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas

When Kansas 18-4 (7-2) lost the team’s first Big 12 conference game, there were hopes among those wishing for the consecutive title streak to end that this was finally the year. They had very little depth and the level of competition was at the highest it’s ever been.

But just like clockwork, the Jayhawks have moved ahead and now reign supreme, with a one-game lead over both Texas Tech and Oklahoma. Their latest win came over rival Kansas State, completing the season sweep.

Svi Mykhailiuk led the team with 22 points, and while he had an off shooting night, senior point guard Devonte’ Graham still had 16 points along with a game-high 11 assists. Adding in their impressive win over Texas A&M in the Big 12/SEC Classic and the Jayhawks are riding high heading into Saturday.

Currently, the Big 12 is projected to receive seven bids to the NCAA tournament, according to the latest edition of Busting Bracket’s Bracketology. One of the three teams not part of it is Oklahoma State 13-9 (3-6), who’ve struggled in conference play outside of a couple of overtime wins, including one over Oklahoma.

After that Sooners win, this Cowboys’ team has lost three games in the row, including the most recent one coming at home to TCU despite a game-high 18 points from leading scorer Jeffrey Carroll. As a team, the Cowboys shot 8-for-14 from three. What ultimately did them in was the shooting from inside the arc, going 15-for-42 for 36%.

This is the first of two matchups between these teams with the second coming in the regular season finale at Oklahoma State. That will be the likelier shot at an upset for the underdogs, as this one could get away from them in a hurry.
