Khavon Moore joins the Texas Tech Red Raiders as their most highly decorated recruit over the past decade.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are rolling through 2017-18, undeterred by outdated expectations. They’re beginning to reap the benefits of a strong season on the recruiting trail as well, with Khavon Moore committing to the school on Monday.

The four-star recruit from the Class of 2018 made his commitment during a news conference on Monday.

Moore is a native of Georgia, so many expected him to lean towards the Bulldogs in the race for his services. That’s where we had him going before the season began. He took a campus visit to the Red Raiders this weekend, however, when College GameDay arrived for the game against Kansas.

Clearly, that was enough to woo Moore to end his recruiting process and make his decision.

Just recently, Moore narrowed down his list to two Big 12 teams have stellar seasons: Texas Tech and Oklahoma. 247 Sports determined that there was a 50/50 chance he would go to either school in their Crystal Ball predictions.

Texas Tech is getting a 6-foot-8 forward whose high school career came to an end after a broken leg. Nevertheless, he averaged 19.8 points and 9.6 rebounds over the course of his high school career and averaged 10.3 points and 6.6 rebounds in the Under Armour Association last spring.

ESPN lists Moore as the first ESPN 100 recruit snagged by Texas Tech since D’walyn Roberts.

Chris Beard now has two four-star recruits in his arsenal for next season, with shooting guard Kyler Edwards already committed. Even though the team will lose senior Keenan Evans next season, the Red Raiders will reload with one of their best recruiting classes ever.

Texas Tech still has plenty to play for this season, with a long NCAA Tournament run in their sights.

With Moore joining their ranks, next season could bring more of the same.
