Tom Crean

Crean’s name will be thrown out for almost every opening this offseason. Heck, there’s a fit for him at Colorado State if he’s interested.

He’s been out of coaching for a year now, though, and odds are he wants to take over a major conference program and push them over the edge. Crean should have little interest in going to a rebuilding program.

Crean would definitely be a home run hire for the Bulldogs, someone who has he potential to elevate the basketball program closer to the level of the football program. He’s dealt with pressure cooker jobs before (i.e. Indiana), so giving him a chance to work under slightly better circumstances would probably appeal to him.

The region would be new to the 51-year old, who’s biggest jobs so far have been Indiana and Marquette. He was an assistant with Western Kentucky for a handful of years, but the SEC is an entirely different beast.

Nevertheless, he appears to be poised join the coaching ranks once again this offseason, by all indications. Georgia may have pulled the trigger early on Fox so that they would have a fighting shot at Crean before somebody else grabs him.

Give him a few years and the Bulldogs will be back in the Big Dance.
