SEC Basketball had it’s best overall season in recent years. How does the league look for next year?

The SEC has struggled to have a positive reputation for its basketball program, barely getting 3-4 teams into the Big Dance.

But this season was the breakthrough year for everyone associated with the conference. Eight programs got an invite to the NCAA Tournament, with two more (should have been three had Georgia not turned down an invite) going to the NIT.

But now that the season is over, changes are being made. From coaching decisions, transfers, and draft news, a new hierarchy is being set for next year. Here is an early look at the 2018-19 campaign.

14. Georgia Bulldogs 18-15 (7-11)

Tom Crean is now in charge, replacing longtime Georgia Head Coach Mark Fox. He won’t have Yante Maten, who graduated after averaging 19.3 ppg and 8.6 rpg while being the only Bulldog in double figures.

This is the least talented roster currently, but there is still time to lure some highly regarded local recruits. They’ll have to, otherwise, the team will be fighting out of the last spot.

13. Ole Miss Rebels 12-20 (5-13)

Another new coach comes aboard in Kermit Davis from Middle Tennessee, replacing Andy Kennedy. Terence Davis has declared for the draft without an agent and would be huge if he returns. There isn’t too much else, so coach Davis will have his work cut out for him.
